Dr Romie Ogbolu says
Dear Okey:
I am pleased with your communications. Thanks.
It appears Umuahians are waking up, particularly the younger ones. I am very pleased in your essaying the concerns and providing answers from the organizations that are brought together to do the renovation of GCU.
Thanks.
I do have a few comments/questions and recommendations:
Comments:
The teams working on the renovation are thinking well. I am impressed. However, do these teams have among them one or two certified Project Management Professional(s) (PMP)? If so, where did the PMPs get there certifications? I am curious to know.
Our Old Boys (young men, inparticular) have asked excellent questions. The renovation teams have responded amicably. There are a few things missing. They are (1) the over arching plan for the renovation from cradle to grave, (2) the continuous fund raising plan from not only Umuahians but also from companies in Nigeria that benefit from Nigeria’s educated youths.
I truly wish and want to know how the fund raising is going in chasing the following companies, namely:
Shell BP
Exon/Mobile
Texaco
Chevron
Other Oil Companies
Expatriate trading companies like GB Ollivant, UAC, etc, etc.
Have they identified and pursued philanthropists all over the world? Particularly those philanthropists that boast of loving Africa and Africans? Please ask them for me.
Renovating GCU is one thing, maintaining it after renovation is another. Maintenance is as important as you and I visiting our physician to get well and get fixed up. What is the plan for maintenance? That way we would not go back to renovation phase. Instead, we might consider face lifting to meet with the times. What and where is a documented maintenance plan for GCUOBA to pass on to our younger generation as we pass on and return to our maker?
Will a library be maintained for renovation, maintenance or what we wish to save for the future generations of Umuahians? Where will that library be? And how will assessing the library be established to facilitate retrieval?
I have engineering and management concerns, both of those canwait for now.
Again, thanks.
