Fellow Umuahians, I hope that you and yours are safe and well. That you are all still practicing “physical distancing”, masking, good hand hygiene, and getting vaccinated since the COVID 19 delta variant is still with us. With prayers and God’s grace, we will all see the light at the end of the tunnel.
It has been a while since my last update, however as they say, …” better late than never”. First, a big thank you to all our old boys who have answered the Clarion call with their donations, suggestions, comments, and support towards our Dinning Hall complex. With your contributions and support, the USA/UK old boys and their families have completed the Dining Complex. The next step, which is underway, is the kitchen fit out, furniture installation and physical security around the perimeter of the built environment.
Last month the Fisher Educational Development Trust announced the deferral of the student admissions date from September 2021 to September 2022 due to COVID impact, slower construction speed and funds for implementation. This deferral will permit the proper cadence of recruitment of students and teachers to match the typical school year calendar.
To elaborate on the roadmap to opening in the new school year in September 2022, the FEDT has scheduled a series of Town Hall meetings. The first one is scheduled for this Saturday, October 9, 2021 @ 9 am EST. The agenda will include updates/plans for the school reopening with respect to infrastructure and facilities, financial reports on CAPEX and OPEX, student admissions and staff recruitment. I encourage everyone to attend to understand our path forward. If possible, please submit your questions in advance to the FEDT Secretary or forward them to me and I will make sure they get them.
Finally, we pray that the good Lord comfort all who have lost loved ones in the past year and we wish that our dear beloved Umuahians and any family members we have lost, Rest in perfect peace.
Stay safe.
